Nathalie Vanlaer, Ph.D. student at VUB Brussels presented a single-centre prospective study evaluating neurocognitive functioning in cancer survivors who were diagnosed with stage III/IV cancer of any type, and who had initiated immunotherapy at least one year prior to and who were in complete remission at the time of inclusion. A majority of the advanced cancer survivors treated with immunotherapy had objective neurocognitive impairment and a lesser proportion had subjective cognitive complaints that were correlated with psychological distress. An integrative approach, including neurocognitive functioning remediation and psychosocial support when treating cognitive complaints, seems valuable.
