Early-onset gastrointestinal cancer (EOGIC), defined as diagnosis before age 50, is increasing, with environmental and lifestyle factors likely contributing. EOGIC appears to have distinct clinical and molecular features, necessitating tailored management strategies. The TEOGIC study is the first comprehensive initiative in Spain to characterise EOGIC. Preliminary findings reveal notable differences in clinical presentation, histopathology, lifestyle factors, and circulating protein profiles, including sex-based variations. These early results highlight the unique nature of EOGIC and may aid in identifying biomarkers to support more personalised diagnostic and treatment approaches.
