Highlights on infections and SCT complications
Dr. Alexander Schauwvlieghe chaired the session on infections and SCT complications and gave a nice overview of the most interesting studies relevant for practice. He discussed a novel approach of dual metagenomics next-generation sequencing for early diagnosis of blood stream infection in hematologic patients with febrile neutropenia. A subgroup analysis of the phase 3 trial evaluating maribavir for refractory CMV infections was presented, as well as an update on the long-term outcomes of CMV/EBV specific T-cells for CMV and EBV co-reactivation after haploidentical stem cell transplantation. Dr. Schauwvlieghe concluded with data from the epicovideha registry.
